Interview with Moyo

This is a direct copy of an interview posted to Project Diaspora. It is a Charlie Rose interview with the Author of Dead Aid, Dambisa Moyo. It's worth watching.

Moyo's book Dead Aid has stirred up a hornet's nest of critique - some of them I helped copy edit (won't name names). Generally speaking, she calls for a cesation of goverment to government aid packages. I agree with the broader points enumerated in this interview, but not with some of the fineries of her text. It was not without ambiguitities. This video however puts a face to the author of contested written words. The forward to her book, written by Professor Niall Ferguson, states that there are many reasons to read Moyo's book other than she is an African woman. But he goes on to say that is reason enough in a policy debate clogged with Western Men. Moyo got her masters at Harvard, and her Ph.D. in economics at Oxford. She is an articulate woman who level-headedly delivers her points and defers her criticizers here. I am glad I saw it.

None of the words below the video are my own. They are reproduced and are the sole product of project Diaspora. They are presented here to be disseminated to those few readers of mine who will not have found this video on their own.

Diaspora at Work: Zambian economist Dambisa Moyo makes her case against aid to Africa

8-year Goldman Sachs veteran, Dambisa Moyo is currently hitting the US media circuit to promote her hotly-debated new book, “Dead Aid.” I am waiting to delve into this book as soon as it arrives to see what all all the frothing is all about. The reviews have ranged from downright surgical deconstructions of the facts presented in the book, outright dismissal of anyone attempting to dismantle the aid framework, to embracing the opinions of a brave AFRICAN voice finally standing up and saying enough is enough with the force-feeding.

There’s not much I can say about the facts in the book, since I haven’t gotten my hands on the book (look for a perspective review in the near-term once I finish the book). A check around the development blogosphere, financial news networks, and Twitter would lead me to believe that she’s hit a major artery in this aid versus trade debate.

Until I can work my way through the book, and post my thoughts, here are some more interviews of Dambisa defending and promoting her book:
